The 10,036m² project on the corner of Adair Street and Great Ancoats Street will, according to the development team, ’feature a striking design, with lush greenery adorning the exterior’.
Capital & Centric snapped up the plot for around £2 million earlier this year, and the proposed Jenga-like building has already been pre-sold to Fattal Hotels Group.
The scheme, which includes a new public square, forms part of the East Village strategic regeneration zone and there are longer term plans for more offices, homes and leisure facilities in the area.
The developer and the Manchester-based practice will go out to public consultation in early January and the plans will be submitted later in 2019.
Adam Higgins, co-founder of Capital & Centric said: ’Once a forgotten part of the city, this area is really starting to happen.
’Our plans for Adair Street will not only bring a brilliant new hotel operator to the city, but will help contribute to the vibrancy of this whole area – a missing link between Piccadilly Station and the east side of New Islington.
’The new bar and restaurant leading out on to the garden mean people will be able to hang out there as well as use it as a base when working or exploring the city.’
He concluded: ’Our vision was to deliver something interesting and quirky, that people want to explore. We want this to set the standard, and for other developers to be creative and come up with designs that excite people and draw in visitors.’
Subject to approval, work could begin on site in September 2019 and complete in May 2021.
